Does anyone remember a Paul Knipe? Stationed in Plymouth 1947 aboard Hamul. My uncle was a marine stationed there also. Would love to have news.

Dad, Harold Bryant, died 1979 age 54. Served on Hamul 1944-45. I'd like to try and determine who it was we visited in Arkansas when I was in 6th grade. It was someone from his Navy time. The person lived in Hot Springs Arkansas at the time of the visit. Is there any information on the people that were in the crew and the states they lived in for the period of 1944-45? I know there is no cruise book and don't know how to find a crew roster since there is no cruise book. Can you help?

I served on the Hamul from 1943 to 1945. I was a MM3C. I worked in the engine room and engineering log office. I was in the 5th Division; AKA: the fighting 5th! I was also a reporter for the monthly division news letter.

I am looking to touch base with anyone who served during this time. Please feel free to email me. my email is Hube01@aol.com.

Does anyone have any pictures from 1943 to 1945?

Log Room Joe

Roy E. Deal, Ship Fitter First Class, served aboard the USS Hamul during the WWII Pacific campaign. I enjoyed listening to all of his stories as a child about his travels in the Navy. I did not realize at that young age what it all really meant. I now fully understand how each and every one of these sailors put their lives on the line for all of us many times over. He survived the war to have a family who loved him very much. We lost our Dad on June 23, 1997.

I was on the USS Hamul then the USS ISLE ROYAL. I left all my friends on the ship and went home August 20, 1962. I tried to attend one of the reunions in Mississippi but my wife was sick. If there is going to be another reunion, I would like to be invited. Thanks, Harry (The FOX)

seven sailors transferred from the USS Savo Island CVE 78 in Boston to the Hamul for the crossing to Plymouth in 1947. I was the Torpedo officer's yoeman and would like contact with anyone during the year 1947, especially my best friend, Dean Broom from either North or South Carolina. I went back to Plymouth in 1999 and the Hoe looks the same, but the city is one marvel beauty, not like the bombed out buildings when we were there. Cheers. Bill

My Dad was Richard Clausing and he was an officer on the U.S.S. Hamul in 1951-52. His picture is at the Hamul website ("Crew 1951-52";) just to the right of the Captain. Dad retired as a Captain USNR but back then he was probably a Lieutenant or Lt. Cdr. He died this year at age 92 - he was a great guy. I have an old letter dated Feb. 1951 when the ship was in Japan, I believe. He served as the Legal Officer on board, maybe personnel officer, too, and as Officer of the Deck. Anyway, we were so proud of him and of all of you who served.
